If you follow me on Instagram @gingersnapbeth, you’ve probably noticed that I have a bit of a thing for pretty colourful houses. And let’s face it, there’s no shortage of cute and colourful houses in London! I can’t seem to wander the streets of London without daydreaming about which house I would live in if I was rich. So, for those who are looking for a pop of colour on a cloudy day, here is a list of some of my favourite colourful London streets.
1) Bywater Avenue, Chelsea
Posing in front of London’s most famous pink house on Bywater Street is pretty much an instagrammer’s right of passage. So if you ever find yourself on this street, I can almost guarantee there will be others waiting to snap that same pic. But hey, that’s part of the Insta fun!
2) St Luke’s Mews, Notting Hill
Can anyone guess what movie this pink house was featured in? I’ll give you a clue:
I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my tooooes!
If you guessed Love Actually, you’re correct! The famous “to me you are perfect” scene was filmed at this now insta-famous pink house.
3) Lancaster Road, Notting Hill
Who needs rainbows when you have a rainbow-coloured street? You won’t want to miss this Notting Hill gem.
4) Hartland Road, Camden Town
This street is conveniently located right across from Camden Market. So eat some yummy street food, buy some vintage clothes, and then take a stroll down this colourful row of houses!
5) Portobello Road, Notting Hill
Not only is Portobello Road home to one of the best street markets in London, it is also the home of some of the brightest coloured buildings! Strolling along Portobello road is a perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon.
6) Regent’s Park Road, Primrose Hill
Primrose hill is the perfect spot for a picnic and a great view of London. Plus, an endless supply of colourful houses!
7) Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden
Tucked away into a small alley, Neal’s Yard can be easily missed from the main streets of Covent Garden if you are not paying attention. So pay attention, because look how pretty it is! Plus, Neal’s Yard has some of the best pizza in London at Homeslice. You wouldn’t want to pass up pizza, would you?
8) Godfrey Street, Chelsea
A walk down Godfrey Street is the perfect way to end off a day in Chelsea. You’ll probably find every possible colour house on this street! Obviously, my favourite is the one with the bubblegum pink door.
