10 Ice Creams You Must Try In Toronto Before Winter Arrives

This summer, I did my fair share of ice cream eating in Toronto. I discovered some amazing spots, some of which I’d even consider going to in the dead of winter! Ok, maybe not. But I wanted to share some of my favourite ice cream places with you so you can try them out for yourself before hell freezes over (AKA winter in Toronto)!

1. Bang Bang Ice Cream

Home of the most delicious ice cream cookie sandwiches I’ve ever had! They bake their cookies fresh, so when you walk into the store, you will feel like you’ve stepped into cookie heaven. You choose your ice cream flavour, and then they put a massive scoop of it in between a cookie of your choice.

2. Ihalo Krunch

Have you heard about the whole charcoal ice cream craze? Well thanks to Ihalo Krunch, the craze has made its way to Toronto! Yes, black ice cream looks as though it would taste of tar. But in reality, it was tar-rific! This place usually has a line up outside the door, but it’s totally worth it.

The black is coconut flavour and the purple is sweet potato flavour. Trust me, sweet potato ice cream is way tastier than it sounds!

3. Kekou

Kekou serves a variety of Asian-inspired gelato flavours including: matcha, black sesame, red bean, and jackfruit. They also have fresh fruit popsicles and various hot and cold drinks. Not to mention, a strong wallpaper game!

4. Ed’s Real Scoop

Located in Toronto’s Beaches area, Ed’s Real Scoop is a neighbourhood gem. Not only do they serve a variety of delicious ice cream flavours, but they make their waffle cones from scratch out front for everyone to see (and smell!). It’s the accompaniment to a day at the beach.

5. The Big Chill

Do you ever eat a massive bowl of pasta and then somehow still have room for ice cream? Well, luckily, The Big Chill is located in Toronto’s Little Italy. So, after your Italian feast, The Big Chill will be waiting to serve you a large scoop. Oh, and did I mention the interior is all PINK?!

To be honest, I can’t remember what flavour I got, but it was chocolatey and delicious!

6. Hollywood Gelato

One of my favourite spot for gelato in Toronto. Check out the size of those scoops!

Ok I have to admit, this was my cousin’s gelato. But it was more instagram-worthy than mine!

7. Soma Chocolatemaker

Another great spot for both gelato and gourmet chocolate. It’s located right in the downtown core, so it’s the perfect place to enjoy ice cream with a view of the CN Tower!

8. Seven Lives

You may know of Seven Lives for their incredible tacos. But what you may not know is that right across the street from their taqueria, they have a paleteria! Paletas are Mexican popsicles made with fresh fruit – way better than the popsicles you get from the corner store. I know it’s not exactly ice cream, but it’s still a delicious frozen treat!

9. Peace Treats

Located inside the clothing store Peace Collective, Peace Treats brings you the best in trendy Toronto gear and milkshakes! These decked out shakes are seriously outta this world. Plus, they are an Instagram staple!

10. Millie Patisserie and Creamery

Similar to Kekou, Millie puts an Asian flair on ice cream with flavours like green tea, mango, and black sesame. They are also known for their layered crepe cakes.

That Italian chocolaty ice cream looks delicious 😋 I actually hardly eat any other flavor unless it’s chocolate/mango or chocolate/raspberry- some fruity stuff that goes with chocolate 🍫 😍😍
